WoW! Time flies!

Tokyo, Day 48 (Blues club)

coming soon.

Tokyo, Day 46 (Halloween Party at Annex!)

This day was one of the best days in Tokyo! It was Halloween Party at Khao san Annex! We actually rented a bed there just so we could be at the party. We came to the party at 7 p.m. The first thing we saw when we came in was Akira, the boss, dressed up in a really funny costume! The staff were also dressed up it funny costumes. A witch, wizard, cat, geek, wrestler, guru, clown. Me and Robin checked in and ran upstairs to change to our costumes in our room. When we came down, in our costumes, everyone started laughing. They thought the maid costume was hilarious! Everyone wanted to take a picture of me. Everyone wanted to stand next beside me to take a photo. I didnt mind at all. As long as they had a good time, and they did! They had a bar as well. All drinks were 200 YEN, wich is preatty damn cheap! thats not even $2 for a drink. After a while the staff announced that they were having a Wii tennis contest. The winner got a Khao San T-shirt! After signing up we started playing. There was like 10 people in the  contest. It was funny as hell! People were cheering and laughing while we stood there playing in out costumes. Robin won the first contest! He got the Khao san t-shirt! Guess who won the second contest? Me! So both Robin and me got a khao san T-shirt.

Somewhere around midnight the party was over but we quickly decided to go to karaoke. I would pay a milion dollars to see a bunch of drunk people dressed up in a costume. We were 14 guys trying to get in to the karaoke bar but this geman guy, who didnt even speak japanese, tried to make a bargain. He started talking to the karaoke assistant. We just wanted to sing! In the end people got fed up with that guy and started to leave.
Me, Robin and a staffguy from Khao san got fed up and walked away. Ivan, the staffguy, went back home but we kept on going. We ended up at Stella. It was pretty empty but I had a blast! I played darts with the guys working there.

Robin wanted to go earlier but I wanted to stay. Stella wasnt that far away from Khao san so he went back to khao san and I played darts at Stella for a little longer. I went home when Stella closed.

One of the best days in Tokyo.

I would like to thank Khao san Annex for a great party!
Pictures coming up soon

Tokyo, Day 45 (Ikebukuro)

Sorry for the late post. In my defence Ive been blogging almost every day since I got to Japan. I deserve a break, right?
Anyways..Day 45 was the day I met up with Lili. We said we were meeting up at 3 P.M in Shinjuku. The meet-up place is a place where everyone meets up. Its pretty entertaining just to stand there watching all the people who walks by. So I was there a bit early, 14:45 to be exact. I didnt wanna be late this time. After waiting for Lili for 50 min I gave up. Well I didnt give up but I didnt wanna wait anymore so I called her up, wich I should have done 30 min earlier...She explained to me she was late..."duh" and that it would take another 30 min until she was in Shinjuku. There was nothing I could do about it so I just went for a coffee and got back 30 mins later. When she finally came we realized we didnt plan anything special. She came up with a really good idea:

In Ikebukuro there is a huge mall with billion of shops and restaurants. On the top level theres an aquarium. Pretty cool, huh?
We decided to go there even though she wasnt sure the aquarium was open. Once we got to Ikebukuro we tried to find the big mall. Its called Shining city by the way. After a few wrong turns and a few right once we finally knew where the place was but before we could go there Lili wanted to get new glasses. Belive it or not but Tokyo hands has their own glasses-store. Then, finally, she got her eyes examined and we went off for Shining city! At least thats what I thought. Her glasses took 40 min to make so we had to wait. But that was ok becasue we went to an arcade hall! Those 40 minutes were like 10 minutes in that arcade hall. I tried mario-cart, boxing, drumming, shooting...everything. After 40 min we got back to Tokyo hands to get her glasses.

All this stuff made me hungry but I couldnt eat now! We were so close to Shining city and the Aquarium!!
It was everything I expected it to be. Big and full of clothing stores, handgbags, expensive stores. In another word "A womans dream". Let me give you guys an advice you wont regret hearing. Never, EVER go to Shining city with your Girlfriend or wife. You will end up broke and they will make you go with them for at least 10 hours!
So anyway! Back to what have been waiting for! The Aquarium! The cool part is that the aquarium is located on the top floor! We got up and....and....and....it was closed! In a blink of an eye I could feel all the excitement and curiosity, that I had built from the moment she asked me if I wanted to go to the aquarium, disappear. There was not much to do then except for eating away my sorrows. And so we did! We went to a place where you order your food with a remote control and ordered everything! we had chicken,  pasta, noodles, eggs, salad, more chicken, okonomiyaki, pizza.

All in all I had a great time since she is easy to talk to and funny. I only wished her English was a little bit better. I had to ask her what she said a few time because her English wasnt the best. It was good but her accent made it hard. I learned yet a few new japanese word and phases. Im beginning to think I know japanese now, haha.

We talked for quite some time but I had a train to catch, so did she. At the station we promised each other that next time will be more planned. I dont know if I got time to see her again but maby. Time will tell....

Tokyo, Day 44 (Okonomiyaki Party)

Today was the Okonomiyaki party! I was so excited. I had Okonomiyaki once before but never home made. We didnt do anything special during the day since we were so hooked up on the party. Niki, who was the one who invited us, had a friend who came by, Jukari. So all in all it was me, Robin, Niki, Jukari and one more girl from the house. We wanted to help out but we figured we would probably just ruin it so we sat down and watched them make the food. It was a pretty impressive cooking they had going on. All the ingredients and all the pans, saucepans, bowls. The kitchen is so small that they had to pile all the bowls on different places in the kitchen. One bowl on the microwave and one on the shelf. They made 2 diffrent Okonomiyakis....no 3 actually. One with mushrooms, one without mushrooms and the third with cheese.

In Sweden you wait to eat until everyone is ready to eat but not here. They were still frying while we were eating. It felt kind of strange watching 3 girls making the food while we were eating like pigs, hah. When they finally started eating we were already stuffed but they insisted that we should eat more. Its amazing how much food a little japanese girl can consume. Dont even ask me how we managed to squeeze in 5 people in that little kitchen.
We thought we had much but they had at least as much even though they were only half our size. As a token of our appreciation we did he dishes. They laughed so hard because in Japan the man never do the dishes.

After the feast Robin showed them all the pictures we had taken during our holiday. A few embarrassing pictures came up on the computerscreen but we just lauged about it.

On wednesday I will be going on sightseeing with Lili.

Tokyo, day 43 (Michael and sukiyaki)

I opened my eyes at 6.30 in the morning with a really bad backpain. I must have been sleeping in the most aqward possition, hm. Anyways! After snoozing for 2 hours I decided to finally go up and eat breakfast. We got out from the house about 11 am and we decided to go for a walk. Only for  quick walk! becasue we had to come back to see if Michael had written an email to us. After walking for 20 minutes we found this really rich neighbourhood! We ended up walking in that neighbourhood for quite some time until we finally decided to head back home. We didnt want to walk back since it was way too far away. We wanted to get home as fast as possible to see if Michael had written us an email, so we tried to find the metro. We walked for about an hour trying to find that stupid metro! We did find it eventually and got home by 14.30. We called Michael and we made plans to see each other in Ueno at 17.30.

We met up with Michael in Ueno and decided to go grab something to eat. Michael knew this cheap "all you can eat" restaurant in Asakusa so we went there. This restaurant was a little bit special. You cooked/simmered the food yourself. We had what you call Sukiyaki. It consists of meat (usually thinly sliced beef), or a vegetarian version made only with firm tofu, slowly cooked or simmered at the table, alongside vegetables and other ingredients, in a shallow iron pot in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. Before being eaten, the ingredients are usually dipped in a small bowl of raw, beaten eggs.

The food was so satisfying! One of the best dishes so far. We ate as much as we possibly could during those 90 min we had.

Afterwards we went to Tokyos oldest bar wich was just near by. It looked more like a diningplace from the 80's. Old wallpapers and old lamps. Even the fakewood on the wall looked old.

After a while Asuka and Kei came by. Asuka is a japanese girl who has been studying Swedish and also been to sweden for 4 weeks. We know her from Annex. Kei was the really cute bartender from Bar23. We had a few laughs but Michael had to go. He had work to do.
Not long after the bar closed. Can you belive that a bar closes at 10 in the evening? We took the train back home and when we finally got home I fell asleep instantly.

Tokyo, Day 42 (Weekend lazy)

Im going to be honest with you. Theres not much to blog about yesterday nor the day before. Its been a lazy weekend.

But! This week is going to be tough. On monday, me and Robin are meeting up wth Michael, an american guy who practically is Japanese. He is well mannered and fun. I have no clue about whats going to happen on Monday but Im sure its going to be a pretty awesome day.

Tuesday is also going to be fun! We have planned an Okonomiyaki party in the house. Who will attend at the party? Its going to be me,Robin,Niki, Nikis friend and maby Daniel. Whats Okonomiyaki? Its sort of an omelett with different ingredients. Its also called the "Japanese Pizza" becasue of all the different ingredients you can use. The word "Okonokiyaki" means "Fry what ever you like".

Wednesday
is sightseeing-day. Im going to places I havnt been to. Im going together with Lili, who became my friend during my stay at Khao San Annex.

I might go to a blues club on Thursday. Its nearby and looks pretty neat. Here is the homepage BrightBrown

I dont know about Saturday but I think its the day they celibrate Halloween down here. Time will tell.

Thats it for now. Its 7:30 in the morning and I need food! Catch you later!

Tokyo, Day 39 (Rain, rain and Magic)

This day didnt start very well. I woke up at 5 in the morning feeling pretty good. I felt like doing something this day. There was just one problem. It was raining like never before! The rain was poring down so hard I had problem hearing what Robin said to me. The rain kept on as the day went by. There was only 1 or maby 2 hours of the day when it was dry weather (uppeháll). We decided to go to the big store, wich was 12 min away from the house, and buy a deck of cards and maby some food during the dry weather.
Stupid as we were we went without the umbrellas. The weather was just fine until we got out from the store. It started poring down again!

When we finally got home, totally soaked in water, I started practicing a few cardtricks. Why? I'll tell you;
For roughly a week ago, me and Robin went out for a drink. we saw a really nice place, almost looking like an irish pub. We decided to try it. The bartender only had English beer and other foreign beerbrands. The beer was so expensive! It was 1300YEN for one 33cl bottle of Newcastle brown ale. 1300YEN is aprox. $13. Anyways! the bartender showed us a deck of playing cards and we started playing Black Jack. After a few games I wanted to show him a "MAGIC TRICK". He was so impressed that I felt like a real magician for a moment.

After that night I decided to come back with more cardtricks! wich I did this night! I had learned a few really nice cardtricks from watching Youtube during the day. The funny thing is that I took a nap that night. I fell asleep and woke up 2 in the morning. I knew that the bar was open to 3 so I rushed to the bar and ordered a beer, even though I didnt want one because it is so expensive. After a while I asked for the deck and started my "magic". Everyone around me were so impressed and had their eyes fully concentrated on my hands for a whole hour. The bartender was really impressed too!
I showed them how to do a few card tricks before closing time. After closing time I got home with a smile on my face.

Tokyo, Day 38 (A taste of Sweden in Japan)

So I promised to write my blog in English from now on and I'll stick to my promise.

This day started early. We woke up at 5 A.M feeling fresh and rested. After laying in bed for 2 hours, waiting for the sun to rise, we got up and took a shower and freshen us up for todays adventures. We decided to go to IKEA! Excided and full of energy we took the train to Chiba. We were told IKEA was in Chiba but what we didnt know was that Chiba is BIG! and I mean huge. Anyways, we took the metro to the station Chiba, wich sounds smart but belive me, it was not the right choice.
Thinking that IKEA was near the station Chiba, made us walking and eyeballing every building to find the letters I ,K,E,A.
We even asked the Police for directions without results. After 2 hours of endless searching we decided to cheat. I used a safety line, "Call a friend".  So I called my friend Daniel, who lives in Tokyo, and asked him for directions. He quickly googled up IKEA and told us that we were in the wrong part of Chiba.
-IKEA is aprox. 25 min with the metro the other way!
It "only" took us 50 min to get to chiba with the metro. Now we had to take the metro back.
Upset and hungry we decided to eat before taking the metro. At the lunchplace you didnt order your food at the counter, you simply put some money in a vending machine and choose what dish you wanted and you got a ticked wich you gave to the cooking lady. I got the curry and rice and robin went for the curry and noodles. At the counter someone took robins food and robin got someone else's food. It wasnt his day.

After the food I was happy and stuffed while Robin was still hungry and upset. We took the metro to minami-funabashi and finally got there. What was the first this we saw if not IKEA! The feeling was undescibable! It felt like coming home!
After a few nice pose-pictures we ran straight to the store, feeling like children in a toystore. We ran around making comments about all the Swedish names of the funitures and laughing. It was just like the IKEA in Sweden but smaller.
Still stuffed but stubborn to try the Swedish meatballs with lingonberry jam and sweet potatoes we took a plate and enjoyed every single bite. We ran around one more time before we felt satisfied. At the exit you could buy Swedish food and sweets. I bought lingonsylt (lingonberry jam), Kex chocklad (chocolate sweet), Gl'o'gg(Swdedish winter speciality), fl'a'adersaft (elderflower drink) and SVENSKA NUBBAR! (Swedish snaps)

Satisfied at the Swedish sanctuary we headed home. We got home at 17.30 and fell asleep not longer after that.
Stämmer in pa mig!

Köttbullar!!

Tokyo, Day 37 (Ueno Zoo)

Halla i stugan!

Frukost!

God natt!

Tokyo, Day 36 (Host host)

Javla skiiiit!

Mmm. Mammas hemlagade köttbullar!

NationalGeographics nästa?

Tokyo, Day 33 (Halloween fest!)

Dagen vi vantat pa! Halloween fest hos Daniel!

Viewer discretion is advised!

Trevlig kille som vi traffa pa festen
Hela familjen! Smile!!Han var fullare an jag

Tack for idag!

Tokyo, Day 29 (Yokohama)

Pariserhjulet ar kand i Yokohama.

Alla lysen borja trada fram eftersom tiden gick.

Tokyo, Day 28 (Robins kompis Erik)

Halla i stugan.

2st Mega mac
1st Cheeseburgare
2st Stora pommes frites
2st Stor Cola.

1 Megamac bestar av 2 st Big macs... Jag at 2 Megamac.

Oerhort god te for ovrigt. Efter te besoket hittade vi en Kimonobutik. Akta Kimonos. Valdigt vackra! Erik hittade en anvand kimono for 700kr!!!
